Eight lions successfully darted and captured ans returned to Kruger National Park

Eight lions that alions that were roaming in Ngwenya Lodge are now back into the Kruger National Park (KNP) , after they were darted and captured and at the lodge earlier today  September 11.

They were captured by members of  SANParks and the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency who successfully darted four female and four male lions, and released them back into the Kruger National Park (KNP).

According to the KNP spokesperson Isaac Phaahla,  the pride of nine lions had made its way to Ngwenya Lodge in the morning on Wednesday, September 11.

Although nine lions were initially reported to be roaming the lodge, only eight were darted and captured, the ninth lion is suspected to have returned to the park on its own.

“One of the lions that was captured was fitted with a collar to monitor the pride’s movements after being released in the Crocodile Bridge section of the park. This was a challenging exercise that was executed with so much passion and dedication for the well-being of the animals. we would like to appreciate the effort of  everyone who was involved ,” Phaahla said.
